Betolar's board of directors has appointed Tuija Kalpala as CEO and president to accelerate the business's commercial development.

Having been serving as the Finnish building materials technology company’s chief operating officer since October 2023, Kalpala will take up her new positions immediately.

Riku Kytömäki has stood down as Betolar CEO and president. At the same time, sales and operations functions will be merged and chief commercial officer Ville Voipio will step down from the management team.

Kalpala held demanding international management positions in supply, logistics and strategic development with Neste Corporation from 2003 to 2023 in Finland, North America, and Germany. She also has experience in strategically significant commercial development projects.

“I am very pleased that we will have Tuija Kalpala lead Betolar and the company’s planned business transformation to focus increasingly on emerging solutions for the sidestream, mining and metals industries. Tuija is a very inspiring leader with strong international experience in developing strategy for a wide range of renewable products and successfully taking them to new markets. Her sourcing, trading and customer experience will be at the heart of the Company’s strategic focus and essential to building Betolar’s future,” says Ilkka Salonen, chairman of Betolar’s board of directors.
