Liebherr has been carrying out rigorous semi-autonomous testing of a trio of prototype TA 230 articulated haulers during the company’s annual International Construction Trade Press Information Tour. The German construction and quarrying equipment giant put its new 30-ton (27-tonne) model, due to come on to the global market in April 2020, through its paces in front of a large gathering of industry trade media during the 24-25 October event, co-hosted by the company’s facilities in Kirchdorf an der Iller

Liebherr has been carrying out rigorous semi-autonomous testing of a trio of pre-series TA 230 articulated haulers during the company’s annual International Construction Trade Press Information Tour.

The German construction and quarrying equipment giant put its new 30-ton (27-tonne) model, due to come on to the global market in April 2020, through its paces in front of a large gathering of industry trade media during the 24-25 October event, co-hosted by the company’s facilities in Kirchdorf an der Iller, Germany, and Nenzing, Austria.

At a press conference on Wednesday morning, Liebherr revealed that the TA 230 would be one of a three-strong new articulated hauler series. The company plans to unveil its new 40-ton (36-tonne) and 45-ton (41-tonne) machines at the 2022 edition of the bauma exhibition in Munich.

Other new and forthcoming models being highlighted during the two-day showpiece event are the LB 16 unplugged – said to be the world’s first battery-powered piling rig – and the LH 80 crawler excavator. Like the TA 230 ADT, the LH 80 unit was being put through semi-autonomous testing on Wednesday at Liebherr’s state-of-the-art Kirchdorf an der Iller test track.
