Volvo Construction Equipment is using the three days at Hillhead 2016 (28-30 June) to find an overall winner and runner-up to represent GB in the Operators Club finals to take place in October in Belley, France (Volvo’s compact equipment manufacturing facility). Since the Operators Club was launched in Great Britain at Plantworx 2013, the GB club has attracted close to 2600 active members. “Our target is to sign up member number 3,000 at this year’s Hillhead,” says Michele Russell, the GB’s club admin

“Our target is to sign up member number 3,000 at this year’s Hillhead,” says Michele Russell, the GB’s club administrator.

“The lucky signee will receive a much-coveted Lego Technic model as well as a whole bunch of goodies. Existing members will also receive a special gift if they turn up to the stand and we are hoping for a high standard of skills and expertise with the challenges we have planned this year.”

The three-station competition will involve challenges on two Volvo compact excavators as well as operators using their skills on a Volvo articulated hauler simulator. The overall winner and runner up will qualify to represent Great Britain in the European finals in Belley.

The Club is open to all operators irrespective of whether they operate a Volvo or any alternative make of machine.

Signing up for membership can be done via a registration form online or at Hillhead itself.

The Volvo Operators Club is open to all, whether they operate a Volvo or any alternative make of machine, but the criteria to take part in the Operator Challenge requires individuals to bring along evidence that they have the proper operator accreditation (a valid CPCS licence).

They need to be 18 years or over and reside in mainland GB.

Contestants taking part at Hillhead will also undergo a breathalyser test before they will be allowed to take part.
