Academic submissions are being invited for research projects that support the aims of the Construction Climate Challenge. A global initiative, applications are encouraged from all those associated with universities, research institutes and similar organisations, with projects being supported with funding of up to SEK 4 million (€422,470) over a two-year period.

The Construction Climate Challenge (CCC) is an initiative whose aim is to drive sustainability throughout the construction industry value chain, by creating a dialogue with industry, academics and politicians. By supporting collaborations between researchers, companies and organizations and initiating research in areas of relevance to our industry, the CCC acts as a bridge between the construction industry and sustainability research.

Research areas of interest include:

• Resource and energy efficiency (e.g. building materials, equipment, recycling.)
• Collaboration along the value chain (e.g. procurement standards, certification systems.)
• Circular business models (e.g. life cycle management, responsible sourcing.)
• Innovation and emerging technologies (e.g. energy storage, new materials.)

The closing date for applications for a CCC research grant is 31st March 2016.

Applications should be a maximum of 10 pages in length and include: study background, problem description/objectives, project breakdown (incl.budgets/timeline), expected results and societal impact. In addition, a project set-up should be submitted, highlighting the roles of key project members, alongside their CVs.

Applications (along with any queries) should be sent to

The applications will be evaluated by industry and research experts using the criteria of:

1. Alignment with CCC objectives.
2. Ability to perform.
3. Level of innovation.

The funded projects will be announced 1 May 1 2016.
