Volvo Penta UK and Ireland is excited to announce the appointment of SMT GB as part of its strategic initiative to strengthen its dealer network and enhance service delivery across the industrial power solutions sector.

This joint initiative focuses on delivering long-term service value, fostering digital connectivity, and providing high-performance support, all of which are essential for building a strong foundation for the future.

This new partnership focuses exclusively on the Volvo Penta Industrial division, providing a significant opportunity to expand SMT GB’s aftermarket capabilities and enhance service levels for existing and new customers. This strategic approach aims to enable a network that can deliver world-class service throughout all stages of the equipment lifecycle, encompassing diesel, electric, and hybrid systems.

Tim Barclay, Director of Service Market Industrial, Volvo Penta UK and Ireland, comments: “By aligning with partners who share our vision for excellence, Volvo Penta UK and Ireland is poised to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

SMT GB will be instrumental in delivering exceptional customer service, offering expertise and resources that empower customers to maximise their investments and achieve their operational goals.”

Nick Allen, Chief Executive Officer, SMT GB, adds: “Partnering with Volvo Penta UK and Ireland is a major milestone for SMT GB. It’s not just about expanding our service offering – it’s about building a stronger, more sustainable future for our business and for our customers.

“Volvo Penta’s industrial engines are trusted worldwide, and by bringing them into our portfolio, we’re creating new opportunities for growth, innovation, and service excellence.”

In its commitment to creating a more specialised and capable network, Volvo Penta UK and Ireland is refining its dealer partnerships to prioritise those with deep technical knowledge, financial stability, and a strong dedication to investment.

Aftermarket support will be provided for new and existing customers from SMT Customer Support Centres across Great Britain. Initially, SMT will be focused on the sales of service and repair parts and labour, and warranty management to support customers of Volvo Penta UK and Ireland.

Jon Taylor, Business Development Manager for Volvo Penta UK and Ireland, says: “The new partnership between SMT GB and Volvo Penta UK and Ireland is an important step forward in future-proofing Volvo Penta’s Industrial dealer network across Great Britain.

“SMT has a strong and well-established presence, with facilities located throughout Scotland, South Wales, the Midlands, and the Southwest. Their broad geographic footprint, combined with a network of strategically positioned service engineers, enables them to deliver exceptional support and customer satisfaction.

“With aligned values and extensive expertise in the Volvo brand, SMT is well-positioned to strengthen our customer service capabilities. I look forward to working alongside the SMT team as we continue to support and enhance the experience for our valued Volvo Penta UK and Ireland customers.”

With this appointment, Volvo Penta reaffirms its commitment to delivering innovative power solutions that meet the demands of a rapidly changing market. As Volvo Penta UK and Ireland continues to invest in its dealer network, customers can look forward to enhanced service offerings and a more connected experience.

This strategic move marks a significant step toward achieving the company’s long-term goals and solidifying its position as a leader in the power solutions industry.

Commenting on the future development this appointment allows, SMT GB Business Development Director, Lucy Couturier adds: “This is a huge opportunity for SMT GB and our customers. With Volvo Penta’s industrial engines in our service line-up, we can offer even more expertise, faster support, and smarter solutions. It’s a natural evolution of our aftermarket strategy. Expanding our capabilities, empowering our teams, and making sure our customers stay productive and profitable.”

By becoming an official dealer for Volvo Penta Industrial, SMT GB is strengthening its leadership in the industrial engine aftermarket while enhancing the range of services available to customers. This lays the foundation for future growth and dealership expansion across Great Britain.

Importantly, there will be no disruption to service during the transition. Customers will benefit from SMT GB’s strong national distribution network and well-established infrastructure, ensuring uptime and operational continuity.
