The business has supplied pumps and other process equipment to the mining and aggregates sectors across Scandinavia for 20 years.
Strategically located in Keminmaa, the new centre will allow Weir Minerals service engineers to quickly access its customers’ sites in the vicinity, and its permanent team of technicians based there allow repair and maintenance to be carried out, minimising the turnaround time for support services.
Stock will also be kept at the location, allowing commonly ordered smaller items to be delivered rapidly to customer locations.
The centre’s opening follows Weir Minerals acquisition earlier this year of Swedish service business Gema, which specialises in servicing mines in Northern Sweden.
As it looks to bolster its presence in Scandinavia, Weir Minerals has also relocated its existing Swedish office in Lulea into Gema, strengthening the sales and customer team.
During the first quarter of 2012, Weir Minerals also opened additional new sales and service centres in Spain and the Netherlands, and it has plans for further new locations anticipated later this year.
