Xylem has announced expansions of it dewatering business in several locations this year in order to serve customers in the growing mining sector.

The company, which was spun-off from ITT Corporation in 2011, discussed the developments and presented its latest mine dewatering solutions from its Flygt and Godwin pumps brands at MINExpo 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Xylem has expanded its mine dewatering capabilities in Brazil, Australia, Vietnam and Panama already this year to cater for increased customer demand and has plans to exploit significant opportunities these markets present over the coming years.

Andrew Jones, vice president and director of Xylem’s dewatering business said, “We are currently involved in some every exciting opportunities in the mine dewatering business in a number of locations around the world. For example, we have just opened a new office in Hanoi, Vietnam to cater for our mining customers in that market.

“Vietnam holds the world’s third largest bauxite ore reserves as well as significant coal reserves which supply the southern Chinese market.  We plan on tapping into this market by expanding our Flygt and Godwin dewatering rental business for the mining and water pumping markets.

“We are also preparing for strong growth for Xylem’s dewatering business in Panama where we recently opened a new base, as it is home to two of the world’s largest, undeveloped copper deposits as well as having extensive rainfall.

“Australia is another market where we have experienced great success and foresee huge potential. We have opened a new base in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia to cater for very strong demand from the mining industry there.”
