Xylem has opened a new pump rental and service business in Dubai to serve growing demand from the construction and infrastructure sectors, as well as municipal customers, across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

This follows the company’s announcement in January this year of a US$35 million investment in expanding its operations in the region.

The investment, which will continue until 2018, will enable the localisation of products

as well as building local capabilities, including a pump manufacturing facility, a pump rental and services operation, and offices in the UAE, Oman and Qatar.

Xylem’s pumps and dewatering solutions play a key role in various stages of construction projects by efficiently and effectively keeping project sites free of unwanted water throughout the project build.

The number of construction projects currently underway in Dubai equates to $390.8 billion.

Xylem says its new hub will serve customer needs for temporary and long-term rental solutions, and provide access to thousands of Xylem rental assets capable of addressing complex dewatering challenges.

“The Middle East and North Africa region is evolving at a rapid rate, with thousands of construction and infrastructure projects currently underway,” says Graeme Saunders, director of the dewatering business for Xylem MENA.

The dewatering rental and service hub in Jebel Ali offers pumping solutions from the company’s Flygt and Godwin brands.
