Yorkshire Aggregates has expanded its fleet of CASE machines with the purchase of two new 921F wheeled loaders for its recycling centre at Armthorpe, near Doncaster. The 921F models were purchased from Barnsley-based CASE dealer Warwick Ward Machinery to replace two 821E models.

They join an existing CASE fleet comprising a 821F wheeled loader, a 1021F wheeled loader, a compact wheeled loader 221Fand a CX210C excavator.

Located just off the M18 near Doncaster, Yorkshire Aggregates site handles around 200,000tonnes of material/year. They offer a complete aggregate service including, supplying and delivering quarried aggregates, washed recycled aggregates and topsoils, plus tipping facilities for inert waste, which is the core input material for their recycling operation.

The new machines will be used to move a wide range of materials around the site, as well loading materials into hoppers and for screening.

Simon Causier, general manager from Warwick Ward Machinery, said: “Yorkshire Aggregates approached us as they needed to replace their existing 821E’s, and were now looking to upgrade to more powerful machines.  We suggested the CASE 921F would be ideal for the job having Heavy Duty Axles with a 6 cylinder 190kW FPT engine. The unique design of the cooling cube with auto reverse fan also ensures constant fluid temperatures with no overheating due to clogged radiators, which can often be an issue with the conventional overlapping design.”

The 921F wheeled loader is said to be perfectly designed for this type of working environment. Its Tier 4 Final, 6.7 litre engine delivers fuel efficiency and reliability, plus plenty of power. The air intake flow is increased by a turbocharger with air-to-air cooling, and the multiple injection is claimed to deliver best-in-class high torque performance at low rpms. No EGR valve is used, fresh air is taken for combustion without DPF and no extra cooling system is needed. CASE’s ProShift transmission provides enhanced efficiency – a five-speed powershift with lock up eliminates torque converter losses from second gear up to fifth gear. The five speeds are said to allow the machine to always work at lower revs compared to four-speed transmission. Lower revs result in lower fuel usage.

Mark Jones, managing director at Yorkshire Aggregates, said: “With the existing CASE machines proving their reliability over the years and a strong relationship built up with Warwick Ward, it was an easy decision to purchase further CASE machines. Reliability is a key factor for us as we operate a very busy site, so having machines out of action is just not an option. The aftersales support we get from Warwick Ward is very good, which is important. When we invest in new machines we’re looking for the whole package and Warwick Ward are able to deliver.”
