Sweden-based drill bits manufacturer Epiroc acquired Corescan in October 2022. Corescan provides hyperspectral scanning, core photography and 3D laser profiling of drill core, rock chips and other geological samples with the associated processing and interpretation.

Corescan has about 50 employees and is based in Perth, Australia, with presence in Australia, Latin America, North America, Europe, and Africa. The main offerings are Corescan and Coreshed and the solutions and services complement the Epiroc offering, with the possibility to offer greater orebody knowledge to mining companies.

Epiroc says the new Corescan brand identity satisfies all the existing expectations of what the original brand stands for, while it also moves the brand forward to align with Epiroc. Part of the change is adoption of the Epiroc brand coloors, to signify the close relationship with Epiroc.

Epiroc added in a statement: "The Corescan Powered by Epiroc team is now a proud team member of the Epiroc Group. The joint intention is to increase focus on the specific needs from customers within these applications, to grow and strengthen our offering within orebody solutions and maintain our position as a leader in this area."
