MSHA announces $10.5m for mine safety grants

The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) has announced the availability of $10,537,000 in grant funding to provide training and retraining of miners and mine operators.

The MSHA says any state in which mining takes place may apply for the grant. The administration may fund 80% of the activities under a state grant program, and the state must provide at least 20% of the total programme costs.

The closing date for applications is 27 May. The MSHA will award grants on or before 30 Sept 2021.
