643 Cemex’s Israeli subsidiary Lime & Stone Production Company Ltd/Ready Mix Industries has just taken delivery of a new prime mover in a bid to improve productivity at the site. The new 6512 Hitachi EX1200-6 excavator was handed over to the quarry – the largest in Israel - in a special ceremony.

Together with the customer, local Hitachi dealer CMD organised a receiving party for 150 guests where the excavator was christened with a bottle of Champagne, which was broken by Ytzhak Bejerano, general manager of Cemex in Israel.

The excavator is fitted with a heavy duty 6.7m3 capacity rock bucket and will be used to load blasted limestone at the quarry face into 100tonne dump trucks.

This machine is the first time Lime & Stone Production Company Ltd/Ready Mix Industries has invested in a Hitachi machine for any of its 11 plants and quarries in Israel. “This new Hitachi customer was impressed by the delivery time - it was a primary selection factor for Cemex," said Hitachi area manager for heavy and mining equipment Malcolm Edwards. "The EX1200-6 was shipped in the standard bulk break configuration and assembled at the site. The official Hitachi dealer in Israel, CMD, was well prepared and had all the tools needed to assemble the machine."

The EX1200-6 has now been moved to a test site, where operators will undergo training by an experienced colleague before it starts work.
