The figures from Unacea, the Italian construction equipment association, are based on sales data from manufacturers and importers.

Comparing the fourth quarter of 2023 with the same period in 2022, the market saw a 7% decline (8,798 to 8,194 units). The earthmoving machinery segment fell by 8% (8,495 to 7,836), while road construction machines saw sales increase by 18% (303 to 358).

"The Italian market for construction equipment experienced a slight contraction in 2023 - said  Michele Vitulano, president of Unacea. However, sales seem to have stabilised at very high levels, which we believe can be maintained in the coming quarters of 2024."
