Holcim was awarded a double A ranking for climate and water management. The company says it is one of 15 companies in Europe and the first in its sector to achieve a double A CDP score, out of 15,000 companies scored globally. This is the third consecutive CDP A list ranking for Holcim that recognises its impact in decarbonising building.

Titan says it is one of only three cement companies globally to achieve CDP's top A score level in 2022. It adds that this score recognises its leadership in corporate transparency and performance on climate change. In addition, it received an A- score in water security. It is one of the 283 companies across all sectors that achieved an “A” on climate, out of nearly 15,000 companies scored.

Maxfield Weiss, executive director of CDP Europe, commented: “CDP saw nearly 20,000 companies disclose environmental data this year, including 70% of European companies by market value. COP27 showed the need for transformational change is more critical than ever if we are to limit warming to 1.5 °C. I’m therefore delighted that European companies make up nearly half of all A List companies around the world, including 15 with two A scores and 8 with triple A scores for climate change, forests, and water security leadership.”

Holcim CEO Jan Jenisch said: “This double A CDP ranking is a great encouragement for all our teams who are putting sustainability at the core of our strategy every day to decarbonise building at scale. Ranking on’CD‘⦣8217;s ‘A’ list for the third year in a row demonstrates the momentum we are achieving on our net zero journey and our focus on preserving nature and water across our operations.”

On its net zero journey, Holcim says it is driving climate action to decarbonise building in a rigorous and science-driven way. This year Holcim upgraded its 2030 climate targets to be 1.5°C-aligned, as validated by the Science Based Target initiative. Advancing its nature strategy, Holcim is committed to replenishing freshwater in water-risk areas by 2030, with measurable goals including 75% of its sites to be water-positive and 100% of sites to be equipped with water recycling systems.

CDP says its annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is widely recognised as the gold standard of corporate environmental transparency. A detailed and independent methodology is used to assess the companies, allocating a score of A to D-.

In 2022, Titan Group raised its climate ambition even further with updated CO2 reduction targets for 2030 in line with the 1.5oC scenario. With the new targets, which were validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), Titan says it seeks to address not only direct (Scope 1) emissions and indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity (Scope 2), but also other indirect emissions of the supply chain (Scope 3).

By 2050, the group aims to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain. With more
than 90 decarbonisation initiatives in the pipeline across its regions, Titan says it is well on track to deliver on its climate commitments.
