Prices fall for Olympic materials

The value of sand and gravel mixtures for the Olympic facilities construction in Sochi, Russia, dropped from €18.51 per 1m³ to €10.5 due to sand extraction at two Sochi-based quarries.

The value of sand and gravel mixtures for the Olympic facilities construction in Sochi, Russia, dropped from €18.51 per 1m³ to €10.5 due to sand extraction at two Sochi-based quarries.

Cement prices in the Black Sea city correspond to the market value as well, the prices standing at €111.7-135 per tonne of 500-D0 cement.

Authorities state that prices have stabilisd due to logistics improvement and work with major distributors.

According to members of the city government, Sochi has very few construction materials, expenses for building materials shipment accounting for the most part of the value.

Earlier, President Dmitriy Medvedev had asked the government to determine the fair value of building materials for construction of facilities for the XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games, being held for the first time in Russia in 2014.
