448 Metso has appointed McHale Plant Sales as exclusive agent in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland for its mobile rock crushing and screening product lines.

Under the new arrangement with McHale, the Irish company begins selling Metso products with immediate effect with primary focus on the Lokotrack mobile crushing and screening plants, equipment that McHale believes will have significant appeal for Irish customers.

The appointment sees McHale Plant Sales return to the crushing and screening market - one in which the company previously enjoyed success. The firm already has a strong foothold within the quarrying, construction and civil works sectors, due principally to its work as distributors of 436 Komatsu.

Describing their appointment as one that “rekindles our long-standing involvement in the crushing and screening market”, McHale Plant Sales managing director Michael McHale said: “The Metso product line gives us a premium product offering that fits perfectly into our operation and adds considerably to the value we can bring to customers.”

The expertise that McHale Plant Sales has within the sector is seen by Metso as a feature that should advance its market position in Ireland. This is especially significant at a time when the Irish economy is showing strong signs of recovery with some very significant infrastructural projects currently in the pipeline.

Metso's Lokotrack mobile crushers and screens are said to offer true mobility, high efficiency, quality end products and reliable operation. The new partnership with McHale will offer a superior level of local product support to existing and new customers.

During the start-up phase, both parties will support the appointment through a number of initiatives. On the Metso side, factory support in customer-focused areas such as spare parts supply logistics, technical training and product knowledge communication. On the McHale side, a key objective will be to undertake activities that will increase awareness of Metso crushing and screening on the Irish market. Included in the measures planned is the opening in June of a high-profile Metso centre at Rathcoole, close to Dublin.

One of Ireland's leading construction plant and civil works machinery distributors, McHale Plant Sales has roots within the sector that date back to the 1950s. Last year, it celebrated its 20th anniversary as Komatsu distributor in Ireland. The company also has significant interests in the agricultural and materials handling sectors.
