Many machine manufacturers have selected Las Vegas’ Conexpo-Conn/Agg exhibition as the location to debut their latest innovations

While 3739 Samoter is the main focus for European launches in March this year, international attention will be fi rmly focused on Las Vegas in the US. The city synonymous with gambling and showbusiness will host the tri-annual 404 ConExpo-Conn/Agg exhibition between 22 and 26 March.

With almost 300,000m2 of exhibition space and over 2000 exhibitors, the 2011 edition of the show promises to deliver plenty of new developments for the quarrying market.

DRILLING AND BLASTING

460 Sandvik has revealed that it will be launching a blast hole drill rig for the quarry sector at Conexpo, along with new innovations for crushing and screening applications. Alongside the new product launches, the company will be running a three-day Quarry Academy educational seminar aimed at optimising enterprise management at quarry operation. It is put on by quarry experts and educators from Sandvik and strategic business partner 3740 Dyno Nobel.

LOADING AND HAULING

The new G Series 775 off-highway truck is the fi rst 395 Caterpillar machine to go into production with a Stage IV emissions solution. Many of the other new machines, such as the wholly redesigned H Series 627 wheel tractor-scraper, will showcase a Stage IIIB version. The emissions reduction technologies have been integrated into the machine design, allowing products to perform at peak production while reducing emissions by approximately 90%, according to Cat.

436 Komatsu's new PC650LC-8 hydraulic excavator boasts improvements over the PC600LC-8. The 64tonne unit includes an improved operator environment that provides better operator comfort and control. The new, highly rigid cab includes a heated, high-back, air-suspension seat; a seven-inch LCD colour monitor panel; and a standard rear-view camera that gives the operator the visibility and control to maximize productivity.

CRUSHING AND SCREENING

385 Atlas Copco will be launching its fi rst new range of mobile crushers and screeners with the PC3 impact crusher and PC6 jaw crusher on display following on from its acquisition of Powercrusher last year. The company now offers a wide range of track-mounted mobile crushers and screeners mainly for quarrying, construction and recycling.

The range covers jaw crushers, impact crushers and cone crushers with an hourly crushing capacity ranging from 200-500tonnes, and screeners with an hourly screening capacity of 200-600tonnes.

435 Kleemann's new MR 110 EVO mobile crusher is designed for processing blasted natural stone, asphalt and demolition waste, is said to achieve outputs that were previously only possible with larger crushing plants. Input capacities of 350tonnes per hour can be achieved, despite its comparatively small crusher inlet dimensions of 1,100mm by 800mm. The EVO concept combines a new material fl ow design with refi nements of all individual components.

641 Parker Plant Crushing & Screening division will be presenting the 1112R mobile track-mounted impact crusher to the North American market to complement the existing range of mobile track-mounted jaw crushers, cone crushers and screens suitable for applications in quarry, mining, demolition and recycling. The 1112R impact crusher is currently aimed at the heavier end of the crushing market and includes a 1,200mm wide by 1,100mm diameter four-bar rotor capable of achieving up to 350tonnes per hour with a maximum feed size of 500mm.

447 Powerscreen will be presenting its proven range of crushing and screening products to the US market with the display of the Warrior 2400 screen, XHA400S jaw crusher and the XH320SR and XH500 horizontal impact crusher models.

Making its debut on the 905 Tesab Group's stand is 1012TS impactor, with a double deck pre-screen. This additional feature to the current 1012T is designed to ensure highly effi cient screening of material prior to crushing. Tesab said that the benefi t of this is increased tonnage through the crusher together with the ability to produce a screened product from the dirt belt. It is ideal for dirty or sticky material, said the company.

0 Metso Minerals will be displaying its latest advances in crushers, screens, screen media and wear protection across its brands such as Nordberg, Barmac, Superior and Lokotrack. The new series of Lokotrack ST tracked mobile screens are designed for high performance as well as mobility. They can be adapted to different crushing and screening processes for use across a wide range of quarrying and contractor applications.

Lokotracks can be fi tted with jaw, cone or impact crushers, and come with or without screens. Two or three Lokotracks can easily be linked together to form a two-or three-stage crushing and screening process.

Canada-based 0 Major Wire Industries will display its screen media products including Flex-Mat 3, which is now also available in tensioned and modular versions. The tensioned version has been produced as an alternative to traditional woven wire while the modular version is designed to replace polyurethane and rubber modular screen panels.

Major Wire said that Flex-Mat 3 panels provide up to 30% more screen capacity than woven wire and up to 50% more than polyurethane and rubber panels. The independently vibrating wires are claimed to increase product throughput by up to 40% over traditional woven wire or polyurethane panels by increasing the open area and eliminating blinding, pegging and clogging.

911 JW Jones Company will show its range of equipment, parts and service options for aggregates processing. The company seeks to assemble the right mix of refurbished, new, used and customised equipment to meet customers' production goals and budgets. It specialises in the remanufacturing, refurbishing and customisation of all types of crushing, screening and washing equipment and buys, refurbishes and sells used and new equipment worldwide.

WASHING

916 WS Tyler will be displaying its Haver Hydro-Clean, a high-pressure washing unit that cleans heavy clay-contaminated material and is claimed to use up to 75% less water than standard screws and log washers. The Haver Hydro-Clean is capable of handling feed material up to 150mm in size. It employs rotating, high-pressure nozzles to spray claycontaminated material at pressures of up to 200bar. The washing unit removes silt and clay particles as small as 63microns from mineral mixtures and can process up to 400tonnes per hour. Its compact size and weight are designed to reduce overall costs and it uses up to 90% recycled water.

MATERIAL MANAGEMENT

Recycling, materials handling and quarrying equipment company EDGE Design & Engineering Innovation will be showing its expanding product range, including the TS80 conveyor. The TS80 is a heavy-duty track-mounted stockpiling system that is designed to cut operator costs by removing the need for wheeled loaders to create stockpiles. Conveyors offer great stockpiling capacity and ensure that the operator maximizes the processing of materials by keeping screens, crushers and or shredders continually fed.
