5517 Chicago Pneumatic has expanded its product portfolio with a number of recent new launches in southern Africa, ranging from compressors, light towers, hydraulic breakers to generators.

Jacques van der Westhuizen, the company’s business development manager for southern Africa, says the company’s main focus is regional growth, including in Zambia, Mozambique and Botswana.

While more growth is coming out of the region than the traditional main market of South Africa, he reports a soaring generator market in that country primarily driven by incessant power cuts.

To make the most of this market, Chicago Pneumatic has launched its CPPG portable petrol and diesel-driven generator range from 2,3kVA to 13kVA.

The company has sold more than 300 units since December 2014, and has a back order of 600 units. It has also expanded its line-up with the launch of its CPSG range of stationary generators from 60kVA to 780kVA, which are designed for both construction and industrial applications such as mining and quarrying.
