CEMEX supplies French wind turbine project

The building materials giant has participated in the construction of the main French plant of Danish firm LM Wind Power. The plant is dedicated to producing what are claimed to be the longest (107 metres) wind turbine blades in the world. CEMEX supplied materials and tailored logistics operations for the project which features technology to reduce energy generation costs and supply renewable energy to wind farms both in France and across Europe.

The building materials giant has participated in the construction of the main French plant of Danish firm LM Wind Power. The plant is dedicated to producing what are claimed to be the longest (107 metres) wind turbine blades in the world.

643 CEMEX supplied materials and tailored logistics operations for the project which features technology to reduce energy generation costs and supply renewable energy to wind farms both in France and across Europe.

LM Wind Power’s main French plant in Cherbourg covers 11.5-hectare, equivalent to almost two times the area of the Stade de France, the largest stadium in France. Located on relatively harsh terrain, the site required a special CEMEX concrete-mix for its foundation, which was supplied through 800 mixer trucks, as well as CEMEX’s self-compacting concrete for the rising of the over 20-metre high walls of the production building.
