643 CEMEX is contributing to the renovation and recovery of Manuel Ávila Camacho Boulevard in Veracruz, Mexico.

The boulevard is one of the city's main tourist attractions and has been renovated to include new recreational spaces for the local population and visitors.

Building materials company CEMEX collaborated with the local government to design the work and placement of special products to renovate more than 13,000m2 of sidewalks and 8,000m3 of fittings, with approximately 10,900m3 of concrete supplied for this important project. The special concrete complied with the local administration’s required guidelines and specifications such as preserving aesthetic finishes, reducing execution times, and making installation more efficient.

"The 'before and after' of this project is very noticeable; the new plazas, trails, and sidewalks have drawn people back to the boulevard, moving calmly and securely," said Antonio Cruz, CEO at Grupo Constructor de Jalapa, the company in charge of the project.

CEMEX says that one innovative solution used during the project involved the integration of marble and limestone material to increase the durability and brightness of the concrete mix. It adds that this produced a more radiant and attractive finish, while avoiding wear and tear from pedestrians and generating significant savings by reducing the project’s execution times.

The boulevard’s renovation lasted a year and was designed to unify the visual impact of more than 3.8km of pavement, improve the area’s pedestrian and traffic lighting, facilitate the flow of vehicles, and provide renewed amenities such as parks and public squares.
