Simon Willis, CEO of Heidelberg Materials UK, said: “Our full acquisition of the Smiths Concrete business reflects our commitment to the market and the Smiths Concrete team. It is a further significant strategic step for our business as we seek to strengthen our footprint throughout Oxfordshire and Warwickshire.”

Going forward, Smiths Concrete will continue to operate as a stand-alone entity, and there are no plans currently to change its branding or day-to-day operations. Similarly, it will continue to seek approval for its proposed new sand and gravel quarry at Wasperton Farm, Warwickshire.

Smiths Concrete operates seven concrete plants, two quarries, and an inert landfill site and predominantly supplies housebuilders and trade customers along the M40 corridor in Warwickshire and Oxfordshire.
