The final preparations for bauma 2013 are now underway and ABE takes a look at some of the new equipment that will be launched at the show.

With over 3,250 exhibitors and in excess of 420,000 visitors expected, 386 Bauma 2013 will reconfirm its position as the largest trade fair in the world.

Work on placing the new equipment on the 555,000m² showground is now reaching the final stages. But the trend for these new launches isn’t always bigger is better, as there is a growing move towards improving efficiency and productivity. This focus is not only aimed at lowering ownership costs but is also helping the environmental credentials of the newest equipment.

Many manufacturers will also be displaying their solutions to meet the latest emissions regulations.

Drilling, blasting and breaking

The 460 Sandvik DC125R, a new member of the proven Sandvik DC family of compact, rubber-tyred top hammer drill rigs, is a remote-controlled, hydraulic, self-propelled mini-sized unit for drilling 22–45mm holes, and replaces the former Sandvik DC122R (one of the series of rigs launched under the product name Tamrock Commando).

5101 Rammer, the Sandvik Construction-owned range of hydraulic hammers, marks the latest stage in the development of the Rammer-branded products with four new models including the 5011 hammer at the heavier end of the large range product line-up, and three additions to the small range, the Rammer 255, 355 and 455, which plugs a gap in the Rammer line-up, and are suitable for carriers in the 1.2-5.2tonnes operating weight class.

MOBA continues to develop its novel MDS-2000 drilling system, a proven package used for blast hole drilling in many operations; it can now record the orientation of the machine. Elsewhere 385 Atlas Copco launches its new top hammer surface drill rig, the FlexiROC T45, along with its new rock drill COP 3060.

Loading and hauling

2983 Bell Equipment, working on its biggest ever truck which will offer a capacity of 55tonnes, is now launching the new B25E and B30E ADTs to its range. Marc Schürmann, managing director of Bell Equipment Europe said, “There are several improvements over the D series. The A-frame design from the larger trucks is now being used in the smaller trucks.”
395 Caterpillar’s 988K wheeled loader (a complete upgrade of the H Series) meets EU Stage IV/US EPA Tier 4 Final emissions standards, and claims to offer up to 20% greater fuel efficiency than previous models. Also showcased is the 966K XE wheeled loader equipped with an advanced powertrain system.

436 Komatsu’s new 33.3tonne WA500-7 wheeled loader is said to offer improved efficiency and lower fuel consumption, and higher performance is claimed for Komatsu’s Dash 7 version of its well-proven 91tonne HD785 rigid dump truck, which offers a heaped capacity of 60m³ and is matched to Komatsu’s PC1250 and PC2000 excavators, and WA800 and WA900 wheeled loaders.

With an operating weight of 83.8–86tonnes, 6512 Hitachi’s giant ZX870LCH-5 excavator has a 397kW Stage IIIB-compliant engine. Other large excavators in the new Zaxis-5 range are the ZX470LCH-5 and the ZX670LCH-5.

411 Doosan says its two new large crawler excavators, the 49tonne DX490LC-3 and 52tonne DX530LC-3, also have excellent fuel efficiency and are powered by the 3129 Isuzu AL-6WG1X common rail, variable geometry turbocharged, six-cylinder diesel engine utilising Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and diesel particulate filter (DPF) technologies to meet Stage IIIB regulations.

From 429 Hyundai Heavy Industries comes the new HL780-9A wheeled loader, one of five new 9A series wheeled loaders exhibited by the South Korean company. Like its fellow 9A machines, the HL780-9A complies with Tier 4 Interim/EU-Stage IIIB standards on engine emissions, and as with other 9A series wheeled loaders it is fitted with various transmission and power modes.

New Holland says the new version of its W170C wheeled loader being unveiled at bauma is building on the success of its predecessor in the recycling industry. The new W170C Recycler is said to be designed for the very tough, aggressive and dusty working conditions.

5013 Dressta’s improved versions of its 42tonne 560E Extra and 29tonne 555C Extra wheeled loaders come with new 410 Cummins diesel engines and offers a payload capacity of 5.35m³ (560E Extra) and bucket capacity of the application 4.2-8.4m³ (555C) depending on application.

The new generation DL550 wheeled loader from Doosan Infracore is the top-of-the-range model in the company’s updated range of wheeled loaders intended for markets in the Middle East and Africa. With a bucket capacity of 5.4m3, the DL550 wheeled loader is powered by a 12.7litre 661 Scania DC13 turbocharged, air-to-air intercooled diesel engine that meets Tier 2 legislation and suits use in the Middle East and Africa.
Hidromek is offering an improved excavator series and plans to introduce a new top-of-the-range machine later this year, which will share some features with the existing 38tonne class HMK370LC excavator. The company has started work on developing its new wheeled loader line.

390 Beumer Group says it will display its conveying, loading, palletising and packaging technology, presenting “innovative solutions” for bulk materials such as curved belt conveyors, while Rema Tip Top says it has further extended its portfolio of industrial applications and now offers both the design and production of Remawell sidewall conveyor belts.

Meanwhile, 6719 Superior Industries, which claims to be North America’s only combination manufacturer of conveyor systems and their related accessories, has said it plans to pursue new international dealer candidates at bauma 2013.

Crushing and screening

The new 668 Terex Finlay I-100RS mobile impact crusher and the Terex Finlay J-1170 jaw crusher will be showcased at bauma as part of the Terex Materials Processing exhibit.

SBM Mineral Processing expands its REMAX series with the new 41tonne mobile track-mounted REMAX 1112 MAXI mineral processing plant, while Arja Group unveils the latest generation of its Tauro 10 PE impact crushers as well as a new MA 0806 jaw crusher and a new HN 36-3 screen.

Sandvik Construction Mobile Crushers and Screens launches two new additions to its product offering, a new heavy-duty scalper (the latest incarnation of the original E7 mobile scalper) and a new Impactor model while Sandvik Construction also has new offerings.

The all-new patented 18.9tonne Sandvik CH550 is based on the proven Hydrocone design, and the new generation of compact horizontal impact crushers (HSI) is said to provide a low capital cost solution, optimum performance and good cubical shape.

The highly modularised Sandvik CI5 Prisec crusher range combines the ability to configure one base crusher into either a primary or a secondary configuration.
McCloskey International’s screeners’ showcase includes the S80 and R105, and crushers include the bogie-ready J44 jaw crusher; the bogie-ready C38 cone as well as the bogie-ready I44R, introduced last year.

435 Kleemann is unveiling its new jaw crushers, the Mobicat MC 110 Z and MC 110 R models, which add to the existing EVO Contractor Line of machines and have been redesigned from scratch

426 Hazemag‘s HSI 1414 is said to combine two successful impact crusher series into a single one and thus increase efficiency in the secondary crushing.

From Innocrush comes the Innocrush 30 using the company’s Innodrive in which the equipment is driven directly without coupling and thus no wear or maintenance-intensive components, says Innocrush. It is used on sites where a production rate of up to 300tonnes/hour is expected.

447 Powerscreen unveils new product improvements in a line-up of three machines: the XA400S pre-screen jaw crusher; the XH320X impact crusher; and the Warrior 1400X screen, which will have its first showing anywhere in the world.

1801 BHS-Sonthofen offers its rotor centrifugal crushers of the RSMX series for processing hard and medium-hard rock to produce aggregate chippings and high-quality aggregates.

Haver & Boecker is expanding its screen range with the addition of the Ty-Wire hybrid screen deck and ultrasound screen decks, and 3815 Major Wire Industries’ innovative Flex-Mat 3 vibrating wire technology for screening will be on show.

Following an extensive research and development programme 3702 CDE Global unveils its next generation EvoWash sand washing plant, while sitting alongside its M2500 mobile washing plant will be the latest AggMax 83 portable logwasher, which will include a RotoMax RX80 logwasher; triple-deck Prograde sizing screen, and horizontal dewatering integrated on a single chassis.

CMS Cepcor, a leading European aftermarket manufacturer and supplier of compatible crusher parts, premium manganese crusher liners, re-manufactured crushers and crusher service to mining,

quarrying, demolition and recycling industry worldwide, will exhibit a range of replacement crusher spare parts and premium manganese crusher liners.

Site services

Options for controlling water drainage on site have been improved with the launch of Italian company 6913 GETECH’s largest model of high performance centrifuge for sludge dewatering and 4781 Xylem’s enhanced 6629 Flygt 2600 drainage pump series, which will be joined by a new submersible dewatering pump range comprising four new pumps. 4396 Tsurumi marks its 30th anniversary in Europe with the launch of a new diesel-driven pump, the 4TBA82D135), one of its biggest.

New weighing options will be on display from Finnish company 666 Tamtron, which is launching its self-developed and self-manufactured full-colour touchscreen Power wheeled loader scale, while 380 Loadrite will showcase its L2150 wheeled loader bucket weighing system and new Loadrite X2350 excavator bucket weighing system. 1745 RDS Technology is launching the LOADMASTER a100 onboard weighing system. German company 1746 Pfreundt is presenting a prototype for a new wheeled loader weighing system, initially outfitted for markets in developing countries.

Finnish company 2932 Sleipner will explain the principle behind its system of moving excavators around the site much faster than before. With Sleipner, it is possible to move machines weighing up to 550tonnes.

5173 Lintec’s Aggregate Cooling System (ACS) is described as a new, patented and fully containerised plant concept for the direct cooling of aggregates for concrete mixes.

3607 Astec Industries’ company Astec’s award-winning one-eighth  scale model of a complete Astec M-Pack relocatable asphalt facility will be shown along with a full-size Astec Double Barrel drum dryer/mixer.
