Improving team performance and supporting self-motivation at work will be the focus of this month’s Lunch and Learn webinar delivered by the UK-based 2904 Institute of Quarrying (IQ).

Taking place on Thursday 30th May from 12.30pm-1pm, the webinar will be delivered by University of Derby senior lecturer Dave Lees. His presentation is designed to stimulate actions on improving the performance of teams in the modern environment of work in which change is the norm.

Lees explains: “Today’s environment of challenge and change means the people at the environmental face of an organisation are even more important and valuable to the organisation than they ever were. Engagement and encouragement goes a long way towards supporting self-motivation and ownership in all parts of a business and can do so much to reduce the incidence of negative behaviour.”

James Thorne, IQ’s chief executive officer, adds: “This month our Lunch and Learn webinar will be focusing on managing and measuring the value of team performance. Dave is an expert coach with a research interest in leadership and management and his presentation will be extremely insightful. As webinars count towards valuable continuing professional development, we encourage members to sign up and get involved.”

Lees is a long standing member of the Association for Coaching, and an academic member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. He is the business development manager for Enscite at the University of Derby, as well as a senior lecturer in Business, Leadership, Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources. He also supports local businesses in their growth and development as part of a European initiative. His experience stems from many years in the Pharmaceutical industry, including 16 years as a sales manager and running his own Business Consultancy.
