Spanish cement demand at 1970s comparable low, says Oficemen

The Spanish association of cement producers, Oficemen, said national cement consumption decreased by 37.2% in May 2012, compared to the same month of 2011, to 1.26million tonnes..Present cement consumption levels are, stressed Oficemen, mirroring consumption lows of the 1970's. Demand for cement during the first five months of 2012 decreased by 34.6% to 5.98million tonnes, at a daily consumption average of 57,594tonnes.

The Spanish association of cement producers, 4303 Oficemen, said national cement consumption decreased by 37.2% in May 2012, compared to the same month of 2011, to 1.26million tonnes.

Present cement consumption levels are, stressed Oficemen, mirroring consumption lows of the 1970's. Demand for cement during the first five months of 2012 decreased by 34.6% to 5.98million tonnes, at a daily consumption average of 57,594tonnes. At the same time, cement production dropped by 34.7% in May to 1.4million tonnes, and by 28.8% during the first five months of the year to 7.07million tonnes.
