Jose Ponce Sosa, the representative of the Mexican state of Hidalgo in the Secretariat of Labour and Social Security, has said that new legislation will seek to apply 16 of the 41 rules governing the different branches of Mexican cement industry production to cement companies themselves.

The clarification is designed to make inspections easier to carry out, and reduce the number of accidents in the industry. The regulations will be applied on a national scale, though no date has yet been given for it to be rolled out, despite having been approved technically. The regulation requires further approval from the government's workplace health and safety commission.
