Pakistan dispatches 3.15mn tonnes of cement in September

In Pakistan, a total of 3.15 million tonnes of cement were dispatched in September 2014, an increase by 7.08% from 2.94 million tonnes in the the same month in 2013. During the month 2.42 million tonnes of cement were dispatched to domestic markets, a 13.86% growth from 2.12 million tonnes in September 2013. Exports dropped 10.6% year-over-year from 816,000tonnes to 730,000tonnes in the month under review.

In Pakistan, a total of 3.15 million tonnes of cement were dispatched in September 2014, an increase by 7.08% from 2.94 million tonnes in the the same month in 2013.

During the month 2.42 million tonnes of cement were dispatched to domestic markets, a 13.86% growth from 2.12 million tonnes in September 2013.

Exports dropped 10.6% year-over-year from 816,000tonnes to 730,000tonnes in the month under review.

In the first quarter of the current fiscal, cement exports fell 8.13% on a yearly basis while local sales rose 9.85%.

Overall sales grew 4.68% during the three-month period. Quarterly domestic sales in the southern region rose only 5.4%, lower compared to the 10.8% growth in the northern region as the former is impacted significantly by the unregulated smuggling cement from Iran.

Exports from north during the first quarter stood at 1.277 million tonnes, a 17.3% decrease from 1.545 million tonnes in the prior-year period while exports from the south rose 12.2% from 697,000 tonnes to 782,000 tonnes.
