bauma CONEXPO India 2016 to benefit from rising equipment demand

Organisers of the 8253 bauma CONEXPO India 2016 exhibition are expecting a hugely successful event, with new analysis by the Construction Equipment and Building Material Machinery Association within the 4293 VDMA (Germany’s Engineering Federation) finding India to be the only Asian country with a growing construction machinery sector.

bauma CONEXPO India 2016 takes place at the HUDA Ground in Gurgaon/Delhi 12-15 December, at a time when infrastructure development is driving up Indian construction equipment and building material machinery demand. The Indian government and international development banks are making billions available for new roads, bridges, sea and airports, as well as railway and energy projects.

The German foreign trade and inward investment agency, Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI), says India’s government is also dismantling barriers to infrastructure projects—lending further impetus to civil engineering. According to GTAI data, for example, expressway construction in India in 2016/17 is to be expanded to 15,000km compared with 6,000km the year before.

Off-Highway Research, a leading independent construction equipment market research company, also states that while around 55,000 construction machines are expected to be sold in India in 2016, the annual number of unit sales will rise to 71,000 by 2020. The top sellers, with a combined market share of over 90%in 2020, are expected to be backhoe loaders, crawler excavators, mobile cranes, mobile compressors, compactors and wheeled loaders.

The positive Indian market trend is also said to be reflected in those regisitering for bauma CONEXPO 2016. Key players such as ACE, 3607 Astec, BAUER, 7482 BKT, Herrenknecht, 7047 Kobelco, 439 Liebherr, Linnhoff, 441 Liugong, MAN, 454 Peri, Puzzolana, 4334 Sany, Schwing Stetter, Soilmec, 7497 Wacker Neuson, 473 Volvo and 6550 Wirtgen signed up for the event during the first half of 2016. Since then 395 Caterpillar, 633 JCB, Potain, 4336 Putzmeister, TIL and 7340 XCMG have also registered for the exhibition. Furthermore, exhibition organisers say Comacchio, 7491 Kubota, L&T and 436 Komatsu will be making their debut appearance at the big industry showpiece gathering.
