UK-based 6094 Rock Fall has launched its new Tomcat range of protective foot wear, which the company claims is the first to incorporate metatarsal protection to European S3 safety standards.

Rock Fall has said that the boots were designed for the comfort and safety of quarry, mineral processing and extraction industry personnel and those working in similar workplace environments. The company has said that the boots were developed through extensive research and testing replacing the traditionally heavy, uncomfortable, unsightly and expensive boots currently on the market.

The range has taken more than two years to develop and surpasses the EN ISO 20345:2004/A1 2007 European Safety Standards. The main design feature is the patented, integral metatarsal protector: a lightweight, flexible inner plate that protects the wearer's fragile metatarsal bones from impact. The footwear is manufactured to the highest S3 specification and also protects the user's toes and sole with a metal toecap and steel mid-sole.

This pioneering range has been crafted using state-of-the-art technology and the highest quality materials. With full grain leather and Rock Fall's 'Activ-step' footbed for supreme comfort, the boots also feature rubber outsoles constructed for the highest durability and are able to withstand heat up to 300ºC.
