6307 Horizon Conveyors' latest development offers safer and easier access during maintenance of conveyor rollers. According to Horizon, development of the new RapidWinch system followed on from talking to a number of maintenance engineers about the limitations of existing techniques.

"Belt lifters have traditionally adopted a lifting beam design to raise the conveyor belt, but these systems can be cumbersome and time consuming to set up if needed for changing a single roller or accessing a tight space," said Horizon managing director Alan Bowler. "The RapidWinch is designed to be more lightweight and portable." The RapidWinch is a belt lifting system - based on a conventional design - that is formed by two parts that bolt onto the conveyor roller frame and uses high tensile straps to lift the belt. The 45Kg unit has a safe working load of 2tonnes and can be used for almost any maintenance task, including changing return belt rollers and inverted V roller sets.

The integrated telescopic design of the RapidWinch means that is can be taken apart easily and stored as a compact roll-along unit.
