Aircraft parking spaces at Singapore’s Changi Airport are being replaced with recycled concrete mix as part of an ongoing drive to go green. Over the coming decade, 31 of the 80m x 80m spaces, officially called stands, will be repaved.
In 2019, the four-phase project is scheduled to be completed with ten parking stands being repaved under the second phase, which is ongoing.
Concrete aggregates extracted from the spaces, which are nearing the end of their lifespan, are being used to form the recycled mixture, which is said to be as good as new. The 31 stands at the airport are at the cargo area, Terminal 2 and Teminal 1.
