Holcim Hungaria is to start decommissioning works of its cement production plant in Labatlan soon. The two-year process affects over 100 buildings, structures and machinery of the plant, with the decommissioning works to be carried out by Alcufer.

The two-year process affects over 100 buildings, structures and machinery of the plant, with the decommissioning works to be carried out by Alcufer.

Originally, Holcim was planning to close its Labatlan plant in 2010 but its lifespan has been extended by a three-year period following a HUF 500mn (€1.69 million) investment in environment protection.

Holcim's Labatlan unit had 94 employees, and the company was planning to invest €350 million in setting up a new cement production plant in Nyergesujfalu but the project has been suspended due to unfavourable economic circumstances.

In 2012, Holcim Hungaria earned HUF 15.97bn in net revenue. The company had 250 employees in total.
