A new 4772 Bobcat S130 skid-steer loader is being used for shiptrimming work at a new cement installation providing cement for customers in the London and south-east England region.

It is an important diversification for Scotline’s operations at its Rochester Transit Terminal on the River Medway in County Kent, south-east England.

Scotline bought the loader from Bobcat of London, the authorised Bobcat dealer for London and south-east England.

After docking at the terminal, cement in the hold is pumped out via a new pipeline system to four large silos, from where it is loaded via a hopper into trucks for supply to customers. However, the discharge tube cannot reach the corners of the hold and a significant amount of cement remains.

The Bobcat S130 skid-steer loader, equipped with an optional front door, is lowered by crane into the hold to form new mounds of cement in the centre to be extracted by the discharge tube. The S130 is then used to ensure the hold is cleaned out as much as possible.

The S130 has an operating weight of 2,465kg; a rated operating capacity of 597kg and a tipping load of 1,195kg, and it also has a reach of 575mm with a lift height of 2,781mm.  Enhanced performance is said to result from the use of the 7491 Kubota V2203-E diesel engine producing 34.3kW of power at 2,800rpm.
