Rock drilling tool specialist 459 Rockmore International has announced plans to develop a new manufacturing facility in Europe. The US-based company plans to build a 7,500m2 new plant at a new industrial park in Judenburg, Austria to serve the European market, as well as the emerging markets in Asia and the Middle East.

"Despite the current economic climate, we felt this expansion in our production capability was vital," said Rockmore executive vice president Pejman Eghdami. "This new facility demonstrates our commitment to better and faster service for our customers. It makes it possible for us to streamline the manufacturing process and expand our product line."

The new manufacturing centre will double Rockmore's production capacity, and will feature advanced heat treatment equipment, automated CNC production machinery, and a state-of-the-art laboratory and testing facility. The building has been designed with optimum manufacturing sequences in mind, so production will be streamlined and efficient.

The new €8.5million facility is expected to be completed by July 2010 and production will be transferred to the site in phases in order to minimise any interruptions in production and delivery.
