McCloskey has just announced that it is adding crushing equipment to its product range in a bid to offer a full crushing and screening line up.

The C50 jaw crusher is the first of two new crushers that will be launched by the company and will be supplemented with a new range of screens that McCloskey expects to launch at 432 Intermat next year.

The C50 is McCloskey's first ever crusher and is part of a strategy by the company to become a full line crushing and screening supplier to the aggregates market. The machine has been undergoing full testing in one of Ireland-based CES Quarry's sites and has just been unveiled to McCloskey's dealer network.

The crusher unit features a 50 by 26inch (1.27 by 0.66m) wide jaw with forward and reverse hydrostatic drive and hydraulic closed side setting. The unit is powered by a 261kW Cat C9 engine, which McCloskey claim is combined with good access for maintenance and an innovative hydraulic system.

The C50 is also fitted with an extended conveyor to offer larger stockpiling facilities and a water pump and dust suppression unit it also fitted to ensure the crusher meets environmental standards..

The new crusher, which is also designed to fit within European transportation limits, was unveiled at Italy's 1162 SAIE exhibition in October.

In addition to the new products, McCloskey is also investing in Europe to ensure it has capacity to meet demand for its widened product range. The company has revealed plans to build a new factory in Dungannon, Ireland that will not only increase capacity but will also use green technology.

"Solar panels and heat recovery from the air compressors will be used to provide hot water and underfloor heating, while a wood chip boiler will be used in place of an oil powered unit for heating," said McCloskey plant Manager Austin Walsh. "The building will also be controlled by a building energy management system and use low energy lights." Production at the new factory is expected to be underway in 2009 and will help reduce the current lead times.
