The forum will feature speakers from Fives FCB, an international industrial engineering group, and Republic Cement, a building materials company operating in the Philippines.

The association says the latest event follows a successful and popular member forum held in December last year in collaboration with FLSmidth, on the digital transformation of the cement industry, which attracted over 100 WCA members from around the world.

In this second forum on grinding and milling technology, representatives from Fives FCB will present the success story of the FCB Horomill system in the Philippines, where this breakthrough in bed compression grinding technology has enabled producers to improve their grinding plant operations.

Speakers will also cover customers’ expectations for reducing clinker factor, as well as key benefits in terms of product quality, energy savings and reliability. The forum will also include a virtual site visit and customer testimony at Republic Cement’s Norzagaray plant.

“I’m really looking forward to hosting this member forum with Fives, which will bring new insights to our industry members, and create opportunities for participants to collaborate and discuss ideas and initiatives” said WCA CEO Ian Riley.

“In particular, I welcome the opportunity to focus on some of the industrial innovations that are helping to tackle the major environmental and technological challenges we face as a hard-to-abate industry today.”

The forum will also cover the visual remote services implemented in collaboration with operators of FCB Horomill plants, and the benefits and impacts this has had during the Covid-19 lockdown. Panellists selected from across the industry will then conduct a deep-dive discussion and Q&A with both attendees and speakers.

Olivier Vanlerenberghe, commercial & business development director at Fives FCB, said: “It is great for us to explore best practices together with leaders in our sector and promote technologies that address the needs of the cement sector.”
