670 Volvo Penta is partnering with Italian manufacturer 7184 Tesmec on its stringing machines.

Already used in a variety of construction machines, including pumps, air compressors, crushers, drill rigs and cranes, Volvo Penta engines are soon to be available in a new construction application: power line and fiber optic cable installation.

Italian construction equipment manufacturer Tesmec is now using Volvo Penta engines in its Argano Idraulico ARS802 stringing machine.

Tesmec has already produced a prototype with an 8litre Volvo Penta TAD872VE installed, and a second, smaller prototype, containing a TAD570VE, is on the way.

Eventually, four Tesmec puller-tensioner stringer models will be available equipped with Volvo Penta power. Each model can come equipped in a variety of power levels and emissions stages.

“Having Tesmec as a customer is quite a feather in the cap for Volvo Penta,” says Giacomo Mondini, sales manager for Volvo Penta Italy. “They’re a key player in the construction segment, and because our engines work well in their applications, we believe there is the potential for our relationship to grow further.”
