RSS8080 Terex Trucks has appointed SMT as its first dealer in Central and West Africa, offering sales and aftersales support for its rigid and articulated haulers.

Headquartered in Wavre, Belgium, SMT has established a strong sales and service network across Africa. In a region where Terex Trucks previously had no presence, the appointment of SMT means the company’s ADT’s and RDT’s will now be available in 20 countries in Central and West Africa.

The Motherwell, Scotland-based truck manufacturer has made many positive changes in recent months, and the appointment of SMT is a vital step in strengthening its dealer network and expanding its market reach, as Guy Wilson, director of sales EMEA for Terex Trucks, explained.

“Central and West Africa is rich with commodities including coal, copper and iron ore, and is seeing an increase in construction projects,” he said. “SMT has a good history in this region and the company’s experience made it the obvious choice as Terex Trucks’ first distributor in this territory. We’re confident that the durability and efficiency of Terex Trucks’ equipment, together with SMT’s excellent sales and service support, will prove to be a good match in this growing market.”

SMT offers a well aligned product portfolio, along with extensive territory coverage and aftersales support, including a well-financed stock of genuine spare parts. Genuine spare parts allow customers to extend maintenance intervals and significantly reduce the risk of downtime on equipment. SMT’s large network and extensive logistics ensure the availability of genuine Terex Trucks parts across the region. To return equipment to service even more rapidly, SMT offers kits for maintenance, reconditioning and basic repairs.

“SMT is committed to creating value for our customers and providing them with advanced products and services,” said Jérôme Barloz, CEO of SMT Group. “The addition of Terex Trucks equipment to our product portfolio is invaluable for providing the best solutions for our customers’ needs. There is a big market for dump trucks in this region and we’re looking forward to a fruitful partnership with Terex Trucks.”
