Hillhead 2016 gets underway

Hillhead 2016 was getting underway today – with all the quarrying sector’s top names set to attract more than 17,500 visitors over the course of the three-day event. 427 Hillhead 2016 was getting underway today – with all the quarrying sector’s top names set to attract more than 17,500 visitors over the course of the three-day event.

Demand for the exhibition at 868 Tarmac’s Hillhead Quarry near Buxton, county Derbyshire, England has been buoyant, with every square metre of the 28-30 June show allocated, including a new outdoor area at the southern end of the site and an extended Registration Pavilion.  

More than 460 exhibitors were due to be in attendance, with all the major industry players returning as well as some exciting new companies.

More live demonstrations than ever before are also planned for the quarrying industry showpiece, spanning four dedicated areas:

• The Quarry Face will host large excavators and faceshovels (40+ tonnes), hydraulic breakers, large wheel loaders (buckets of 4 cubic metres and above) and rigid and articulated dumptrucks. Leading suppliers featured will include: 473 Volvo, 395 Caterpillar, 633 JCB, 2983 Bell, 411 Doosan, 429 Hyundai, 439 Liebherr, 436 Komatsu, 6850 Miller UK, 394 Case, 7496 Worsley Plant, 6512 Hitachi and 8080 Terex Trucks.

• The Rock Processing area operated in the ever-popular ‘crusher alley’ will showcase the latest tracked and skid-mounted crushers, screens, scalping grids and stockpiling conveyors from manufacturers including 668 Terex Finlay, 460 Sandvik, 447 Powerscreen, 905 Tesab, QM&S and 445 McCloskey International.

• The Recycling area to the south of the site will show a range of crushing, shredding, screening and washing equipment, using material imported on to the site including general C&D waste, reject concrete blocks, waste asphalt and brick rubble. Among others, 7782 Haulmark, 7968 Maximus, Baughans, Herbst, Warwick Ward and 624 Engcon will demonstrate their latest equipment alongside JCB.

• Finally, the Registration area will combine both rock processing and recycling demonstrations. Highlights will include the MDS International heavy-duty M515 tracked trommel (50 tonnes), together with various excavators, crushers and screens from 5782 Red Rhino Crushers, 3167 Rockster, CGCS, Global Construction Plant, SMP Parts, Buntons, 4334 Sany (TDL Equipment) and many others.
