Smiley Monroe introduces its Belt Buddy repair resin for rubber conveyor belts

663 Smiley Monroe has been highlighting the success of its new Belt Buddy.

The product, launched by the Northern Ireland-based company at 427 Hillhead earlier this year, is a rapid repair resin for rubber conveyor belts and is part of the company’s vulcanising materials and equipment range.

“Smiley Monroe’s 4420 Toughflex Series’ Belt Buddy is designed to be a fast, easy-to-use and extremely cost-effective method of repairing minor and cosmetic damage to the covers of rubber conveyor belts,” says the company.

“We have made the Belt Buddy pack small enough to fit in the top pocket of overalls, but big enough to give sufficient material to carry out several small repairs with minimum waste.

“It can be used for repairing minor damage to conveyor belt covers; synthetic rubber screening media repair; patching worn conveyor pulley lagging, and industrial tyre repair.”

The product uses a fast setting two-part resin/hardener polyurethane system that is said to require no training and no specialist tools or equipment.

Smiley Monroe says the Belt Buddy kit is ideal for OEMs, end-users and belt service companies.

It has an operating temperature of -55°C to +125°C; specific gravity 1.1; mixed viscosity (mPas) at 25°C: of 1,550; elongation at break of 1,000% tensile strength of 12MPa and a tear resistance of 30MPa.

“The belt can be safely run after two hours. If required, any excess material can be carefully finished one hour after application,” says the company.
