Sandvik’s DH350 drill rig: the first machine developed at Sandvik’s Jiading R&D centre in China

The new DH350 is the first machine developed at 460 Sandvik’s Jiading R&D centre in China.

Following its recent global launch, the first machine has been bought by Chinese company, Fujian Saibang Leasing, which says it is “delighted” with its new compact drill rig, “an ideal machine for a variety of construction drilling projects.”

The new diesel-powered, crawler-mounted, self-contained down-the-hole Sandvik DH350 drilling rig has been designed for drilling with 3”, 4” and 5” hammers in the 89–152mm (3½-6”) hole range.

Featuring a rigid fixed boom and feed design, combined with efficient state-of-the-art hydraulics for boom positioning, feed, rotation, tramming and track oscillation, it is said to offer customers an accurate and productive rig.

“Furthermore operational productivity, hole accuracy and drilling smoothness are further enhanced by a heavy duty rotary head that supplies a very high torque of 2,530Nm. Fuel costs are also minimised with two separate power sources, with the rig featuring an optimised on-board, 43kW diesel engine for drilling and ancillary operations, while an external compressor provides compressed air for the hammer and hole flushing, being powered by an independent engine,” says Sandvik.

As a contractor operating in the construction industry, Fujian Saibang Leasing required a drill rig that could be used in many different applications and projects, following consultations with Sandvik China, and drawing on experience of its existing DX700 drill rig, it chose the DH350.
